New patients begin with a 90-minute Premium New Patient Experience. If you’re new, your first visit will include a full hygiene routine and diagnostics.

X-Rays

Once a year, your dental hygienist will take X-rays of your teeth and jaws, so we can ensure the supporting structures of your mouth remain strong. We will also use this imaging to detect problems under the surface.

Cleaning

Your dental hygienist will examine your mouth for early warning signs of oral health concerns, then get to work removing plaque and tartar with specialized instruments. After your cleaning, they will then polish your teeth with a gritty toothpaste to remove leftover plaque and stains before flossing between each tooth.

Exam

Your dentist will evaluate your mouth, checking for signs of cavities, gum disease, oral cancer, and other concerns. If we can catch them before they develop into major problems, treatment is often more effective, less invasive, and less expensive. If anything needs attention, your dentist will let you know.

Education

You will be encouraged to ask questions about any dental concerns you have or your at-home routine. We’re always happy to give you advice.

FAQ About General Dentistry in Ballantyne, NC

How often should I visit a general dentist?

The standard recommendation is every six months for a routine cleaning and exam. These visits give our team a chance to remove tartar buildup, check for cavities, screen for gum disease and oral cancer, and catch small problems before they spread. Some patients with a history of gum disease or other ongoing concerns may need to come in more frequently.

I have a good at-home routine. Do I really need a dentist?

Yes. While brushing, flossing, and using a mouthwash at home will go a long way in protecting your oral health and keeping bacteria to a minimum, you can’t reach certain areas with at-home care alone. Our dental hygienists use specialized instruments to reach all areas of your teeth and remove hardened tartar that toothbrushes can’t remove. Let us be one more step in your routine.

What should I do if I have a dental emergency?

Call our dentist serving Ballantyne and Charlotte right away. Our practice is led by a former emergency dentist, and we offer same-day emergency appointments for urgent cases. Common emergencies include a knocked-out tooth, a cracked or broken tooth, a lost filling or crown, sudden swelling, or severe tooth pain. While you wait to be seen, you can manage discomfort with over-the-counter pain medication and a cold compress. If a tooth has been knocked out, try to place it back in the socket or keep it in a cup of milk or saliva until you reach our office.
